22 SCA Hudson Valley Internships starting January 18th!

10 month positions serving in cooperation with NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation & NYS Department of Environmental Conservation

Created in 1999, The Student Conservation Association’s Hudson Valley Program is dedicated to recognizing, preserving and interpreting the nationally significant historical, cultural and natural resources of New York’s Hudson Valley. Interns are individually placed at state agencies and local non-profits and work one-on-one alongside conservation professionals. Interns also participate in trainings, service projects and celebrations with 40+ fellow corps members once each month.

Research and Creative Project Award

The Graduate School at the State University of New York at New Paltz will once again provide modest funding support to graduate students through the Research and Creative Project Award (RCPA).

The purpose of the RCPA is to support and encourage research and creative projects that enhance graduate students’ professional development as they pursue their master’s degree or Certificate of Advanced Study. All matriculated graduate students in good standing (cumulative gpa of 3.0 or higher) are eligible to apply for this grant. The maximum award amount per recipient is $400 per annum.

Students may obtain award application guidelines and forms from the Office of the Graduate School, Haggerty Administration Building, Room 804, or on-line via the Graduate Studies channel in http://my.newpaltz.edu.

RCPA funding is available for projects that occur during the Fall 2009 semester and the Spring/Summer 2010 semesters. The application deadlines for both funding cycles are as follows:

Centrino Family Scholarship

The Center for Research, Regional Education and Outreach (CRREO) is pleased to announce the Cetrino Family Scholarship, a year long full tuition scholarship and internship for juniors who are interested in a career in public service. Interested applicants should be entering their junior year at SUNY New Paltz, have financial need, and be willing to accept a paid internship at CREEO for an average of 15 hours/week during the school year and summer.  The Cetrino Family Scholar will be awarded tuition and fees ($5,141) and an annual living stipend of $7,400, in addition to the paid internship.

Interested students should apply no later than Friday, Sept. 18. to the Financial Aid office with a letter of interest, an unofficial transcript, and recommendations from two faculty members.
